Young People’s Forum in Sant’Anna di Stazzema

The "Young People’s Forum" in S.Anna di Stazzema is a formative itinerary created to sensitize the young generations about peace, memory, solidarity and rights’ themes.
One invitation to not forget and one stimulus to learn not only the history made by the great events, but also the one made by the survivors’ memory.
A moment of comparison and meditation about the more and more serious need to promote a culture of peace and a unviolent diplomatic practice in the resolution of the conflicts.
An occasion to remember and to meditate, but also a moment of joy, to meet, to play, to give joy and life to a symbolic place which was marked by the violence and the memories of death.

The Municipality of Stazzema, the National Park of Peace of Sant’Anna, the Historical Museum of the Resistance, the "Gallerie Comunicanti" - Young People’s Forum Versilia, the Committee for the Honors to the Martyrs of Sant’Anna, the Martyrs Association of Sant’Anna, the Comprehensive Institute "Martyrs of Sant’Anna", ANPAS of Stazzema, the Pace and Cooperation Committee of the Municipality of Viareggio, the "Porto Franco Project" of the Tuscany Region and the Province of Lucca, give their firmly participation to the organization of the "Young People’s Forum" in S.Anna di Stazzema.

During the years this initiative has been revealing successfull in the whole area of the Province of Lucca.
In the editions of 2004 and 2005 the young people participating were about 1.000.
The event takes three days; each day was dedicated to a specific scholastic grade. Through the tell of the real occurrences, throug direct testimonies, documents tapes, photographic exhibits, educational and didactical-recreational laboratories, schools and associations’ contributions, interventions and thematic lectures, the young people participating could do a trip through the historical events’ memory, deepening the social, historical and cultural contemporary themes.

Expert people as social, cultural, sporting and educational associations coming from the whole area of Versilia participate to organize and to manage the event.

Starting from 2004, the "Young People’s Forum" decided to face for every year a specific theme.

2002 edition, April 19th

2003 edition, April 10-11-12th

2004 edition, "The memory and the art" - April 21-22-23rd : the activities were connected to the artistic discipline, in order to recall the art to the role of history and society’s interpreter, to utilize it as investigation and knowledge’s tool, as privileged key to access in the memory’s meanders.

2005 edition, "Breaked off games" - April 20-21-22nd 2005
The edition of 2005 was dedicated to the theme of the game. The juvenile work’s exploitation, the children soldier’s problem and the child abuses are serious infringements of the human rights, moreover they deprive the children of their fundamental rights as the education, the game, the normal growth.
Still today million of children are deprived of their game’ times.
About these themes a meeting of research was organized; it was reserved to teachers and expert people and its subject was "The game as didactic tool to peace and world’s education". During the conference the theme of the game has been faced in all of its manifold values: as educational and didactic tool, as medium of socialization and learning, as space of liberty and discovery, as key of world and oneself’s knowledge.
